Biografi
MAGNE FURUHOLMEN (f.1962) er en anerkjent norsk billedkunstner, musiker, komponist og poet. Han startet sin profesjonelle kunstneriske praksis i 1989 og arbeider innen et bredt spekter av medier, med grafikk og skulptur som kjerneelementer i hans omfattende kunstnerskap.
Furuholmen henter inspirasjon fra litteratur og språk, ofte med selvskrevne tekster og selvbiografiske elementer, samt referanser til historiske hendelser og kunsthistorie. Latin og engelsk spiller en sentral rolle i hans arbeid. Med et sterkt og poetisk visuelt språk balanserer han fargeflater og skarpe linjer, der håndskrevne eller karakteristisk stiliserte fonter danner ord og utsagn i kontrastfylte komposisjoner. Han arbeider ofte i serier, alltid med et klart konseptuelt utgangspunkt.
Furuholmen har stilt ut ved en rekke internasjonale visningssteder, og hans verk er representert i institusjoner og private samlinger over hele verden. Siden 2014 har han vært styremedlem i Queen Sonja Print Award, og i 2017 ble Furuholmen utnevnt æresdoktorgrad i kunst (D.F.A.) fra Universitetet i Agder. I 2012 ble han utnevnt til ridder av 1. klasse av St. Olavs Orden av Kong Harald for sin innsats for samfunnet.
